Ambassador: Russia, Turkey work on alternative to Mir system

ANKARA, Feb 9 (PRIME) -- Moscow and Ankara are working on an alternative to the Mir payment system, whose servicing Turkish banks have recently suspended, even though it is too early to talk about results, Russian ambassador to Turkey Alexei Yerkhov said on Thursday.

“The work is going on. Nevertheless, it is obvious that it is too early to summarize its results,” Yerkhov said.

“Also, discussion is about the upcoming tourist season, and we are yet to understand what it will look like. It is obvious that financial sanctions also hurt the tourism sphere.”
